Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 August 2026. This policy explains exactly what happens to your files and your data when you use ResizeMate.

The short version

• Every image tool runs entirely in your browser. Your photos are never uploaded, never seen by us, and never stored.
• PDF compression is the one exception: the file is uploaded, compressed and deleted within seconds. It is never stored or logged.
• There are no accounts, no signups and no passwords, so we hold no profile about you.
• We set no tracking cookies of our own.

Your images are processed on your device

Resizing, compressing, cropping, converting between PNG, JPG and WebP, converting HEIC to JPG, building a PDF from images, and every preset tool all run in your browser using your device's own image processing. The file is read from your disk into the page and never transmitted anywhere.

This is verifiable rather than a promise: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and use any of these tools. You will see no upload request. You can also disconnect from the internet after the page has loaded and the tools will keep working.

Because nothing is transmitted, there is nothing for us to retain, and no copy of your image exists outside your device. Closing the tab discards everything.

PDF compression — the one exception

Real PDF compression requires a server-side engine, so Compress PDF does upload your file. We want to be precise about what that involves.

Your PDF is sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our server, where it is written to a private directory outside the public web root under a randomly generated, unguessable identifier. It is compressed with Ghostscript and the result is streamed back to you. The moment that download completes, the uploaded file and every intermediate file are deleted.

Files are never stored beyond that exchange, never indexed, never backed up, never inspected and never shared. Any job that is abandoned mid-way — you close the tab, your connection drops — is automatically deleted within 30 minutes. There is no archive, so we could not retrieve your document later even if you asked us to.

If you would rather no file leave your device at all, do not use this one tool. Everything else on the site is genuinely local.

What we store in your browser

We store exactly one thing, and it is not a cookie: a browser localStorage entry named rm-theme, which remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. It contains the word "light" or "dark" and nothing else. It never leaves your device and is not readable by us.

We set no cookies of our own, and we operate no analytics, tracking pixels, session recording or fingerprinting.

Third parties

A small number of third-party services are involved in delivering the site, and honesty requires listing them.

• Cloudflare sits in front of the site as a CDN and security layer. As with any website, it processes connection data including your IP address in order to serve pages and block abuse.
• Google Fonts supplies the site typeface from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Loading a font makes a request to Google, which discloses your IP address to them.
• Hostinger hosts the site and the PDF compression service.
• Google AdSense may serve advertising on the site. When enabled, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to personalise and measure ads. You can review and change your choices at adssettings.google.com, and Google's handling of data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

None of these parties receives your images. Your files are processed on your device, or in the case of PDFs on our own server, and are not passed to any advertiser or analytics provider.

Your rights

Because we operate no accounts and retain no files, there is normally no personal data of yours for us to export, correct or erase — there is simply nothing held. If you are in a jurisdiction such as the EEA or UK that grants rights over personal data, and you believe we hold something relating to you, write to us and we will deal with it.

ResizeMate is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes and contact

If this policy changes materially — in particular if a tool ever begins sending data where it previously did not — the date at the top will be updated and the change described here.
