Why there is no file limit
Most bulk resizers cap you at ten or twenty files, or put larger batches behind a subscription. That cap exists because they are paying to upload, store and process your images on their servers.
ResizeMate does the work on your own device, so the only real limits are your computer's memory and your patience. A batch of a hundred photos costs us nothing, which is why we do not charge for it.
Getting a batch right the first time
- Set a width and leave the height blank. With "lock ratio" on, each image's height is calculated from its own proportions, so portrait and landscape files both come out undistorted.
- Turn on "don't enlarge" for a mixed batch. Without it, images smaller than your target get scaled up and look soft.
- Run one file through first. If the settings are wrong you find out after one image instead of after ninety.
- Keep the originals until you have checked the output — resizing is not reversible.
One setting across a mixed batch
A portrait and a landscape photo cannot both become 1200×800 without one of them being squashed. Setting only a width avoids the problem entirely: every image ends up the same width, each with the height its own aspect ratio requires.
If you need every output to fit inside a fixed box instead, set both dimensions and enable "don't enlarge" — the requested box is then scaled down proportionally to fit each image rather than stretching it.
