2x2 & 1x1 Picture Maker

Turn any head-and-shoulders photo into a 2×2 or 1×1 inch ID picture, swap the background to white or blue, and download a print-ready JPG — all in your browser.

A 2x2 picture is 2 × 2 inches (5.08 × 5.08 cm), which is 600 × 600 pixels at 300 dpi. A 1x1 picture is 1 × 1 inch, or 300 × 300 pixels. Pick a size, pick a background, and download.

How to make a 2x2 picture

  1. Add your photo. Front-facing, shoulders visible. A tall phone photo is cropped to a square for you.
  2. Pick 2×2 or 1×1, then a background. White suits most IDs; choose Blue only if the form asks for it.
  3. Apply and download. You get a JPG with the exact pixel size, ready to upload or print.

2x2 and 1x1 picture sizes

2x22 × 25.08 × 5.08600 × 600

"2x2" means inches, not centimetres. A 2 × 2 cm picture would be less than half the size, and is a common mistake when ordering prints.

White or blue background in one click

Choose a colour in the Background row. An AI model running on your own device separates you from whatever is behind you and fills the space with plain white or blue. The model downloads once the first time you use it; the photo never leaves your browser.

Most government IDs and applications want plain white. Some schools and offices ask for blue — always follow the colour written on your form. If you need a different shade, use Custom.

For the cleanest edge, take the photo against a wall that contrasts with your hair, in even light, with no strong shadow behind your head.

Your photo is cropped to a square automatically

A 2x2 or 1x1 picture is a square, while a phone photo is a tall rectangle. Instead of squashing your face into 600 × 600, the tool crops the photo to a square, keeping the top so your head is not cut off. To frame it yourself, use Crop with the 1:1 aspect first, then come back.

In a standard ID picture your head takes up roughly half to two-thirds of the height, with a little space above the hair.

Printing a 2x2 picture

The file is 600 × 600 pixels — exactly enough for a sharp 2 × 2 inch print at 300 dpi. When you send it to a print shop or kiosk, ask for it to be printed at 2 × 2 inches; printing software otherwise guesses a size from the file, and the guess is often wrong.

Need several on one sheet? Most kiosks will tile copies of a single photo on a 4R (4 × 6 inch) print, which fits six 2x2 pictures.

600 × 600 pixels at 300 dpi. That is 2 × 2 inches, or 5.08 × 5.08 cm.
What is the 1x1 picture size in pixels?
300 × 300 pixels at 300 dpi — 1 × 1 inch, or 2.54 × 2.54 cm.
How do I change my 2x2 picture background to white?

No. Background removal, resizing and compression all happen on your device.
