GATE Photo & Signature Resizer

Resize your photograph and signature for the GATE 2027 application on GOAPS. One preset sets the 3.5 × 4.5 cm photo, the other a signature inside the allowed width-to-height ratio — all in your browser.

The GATE 2027 photo must be between 200 × 260 and 530 × 690 pixels, 5 KB to 600 KB, JPG. The signature must be between 250 × 80 and 580 × 180 pixels, 3 KB to 300 KB. Apply a preset below and download.

How to resize a photo for the GATE form

  1. Add your photograph. Recent, front-facing, on a white background — face filling 60–70% of the frame.
  2. Apply the photo preset. 413 × 531 is 3.5 × 4.5 cm at 300 dpi, inside the GOAPS pixel range.
  3. Download, then repeat for the signature. Switch to the signature preset for the second upload.

GATE checks shape and pixels, not just file size

Most exam forms are strict on file size and loose on everything else. GATE is the opposite: 5–600 KB is very generous, but GOAPS rejects a photo whose pixel dimensions fall outside 200 × 260 to 530 × 690, or whose width-to-height ratio falls outside 0.66–0.89.

That is why an unedited phone photo fails — it is thousands of pixels wide. The 413 × 531 preset sits in the middle of every allowed range, and at that size the file lands far below 600 KB at full quality, so there is no need to compress hard.

If your photo is not already passport-shaped, crop it to a 3.5:4.5 portrait first, so the preset does not squash your face.

The signature is a long, thin strip

The GATE signature must be 2.75 to 3.75 times wider than it is tall — a long strip, not the near-square box most people photograph. The 480 × 150 preset has a ratio of 3.2, safely inside the range and inside the 580 × 180 maximum.

Sign in black or dark blue ink on plain white paper, photograph it square-on in good light, and crop tightly so the signature fills 70–80% of the image before applying the preset. A loosely cropped signature with a large white margin breaks that rule even when the pixel size is right.

Photo rules that cause rejections

This tool resizes and compresses; it does not change the background. Take the photo against a white wall to begin with.

Frequently asked questions

What is the GATE 2027 photo size?
Between 200 × 260 and 530 × 690 pixels, 5 KB to 600 KB, in JPG format, with a width-to-height ratio between 0.66 and 0.89 — passport size, 3.5 × 4.5 cm. The 413 × 531 preset fits all of these.
What is the GATE signature size?
Between 250 × 80 and 580 × 180 pixels, 3 KB to 300 KB, JPG, and 2.75 to 3.75 times as wide as it is tall. The 480 × 150 preset fits.
Why does GOAPS reject my photo when it is under 600 KB?
Usually the pixel dimensions or the shape are wrong, not the file size. A phone photo is far larger than 530 × 690 pixels — resize it with the photo preset.
Can I wear glasses in the GATE photo?
Normal spectacles are allowed as long as there is no glare on the lenses. Sunglasses and tinted glasses are not.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Resizing happens in your browser and the photo never leaves your device.
